October is Car Care Month at AAA Western and Central New York – a reminder that now is the time to prepare vehicles for winter. Since finding a trusted mechanic can be difficult at times, AAA rigorously reviews facilities to highlight the best. Motorists in need of reliable automotive service can rely on AAA’s Approved Auto Repair (AAR) facilities.

There are more than 140 AAR facilities in Western and Central New York.  Every year, AAA reviews service evaluations from customers of AAR shops to recognize those with the highest customer satisfaction scores as “Top Shops,” which must have a “totally satisfied” survey score of 95% or better.

Criteria to be a TOP SHOP: Auto repair facilities in the AAR program are subject to consumer surveys that require an 80% completion rating. Shops must have a minimum of 40 surveys completed annually with at least a 90% approval rating to stay in the AAR program. If a facility’s survey score for the year is above 95%, it qualifies as a Top Shop.
