AAA Announces New Vice President of Human Resources
Susan Was has been named Vice President of Human Resources for AAA Western and Central New York. Ms. Was will be responsible for the organization’s strategic direction for human resources with particular emphasis on recruitment, learning & development, engagement and retention for approximately 800 associates throughout the greater Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse areas.
“I am thrilled to join an organization that has a vast amount of care and concern for their members as they do for their associates,” she said. “Having a positive, engaging work environment directly impacts the engagement of the employees, resulting in a fantastic member experience.”
AAA Western and Central New York has more than 800,000 members across the region.
Susan has an extensive background in the human resource field with a focus on leadership. She has developed her own programs on leadership development and has a background in talent management, talent development, compensation, and talent acquisition.
“I hope to continue the momentum and assist in furthering the connection between employee experience and member experience,” she said.
Susan comes to AAA from Curbell Inc., a medical device manufacturer and distributor of plastics, headquartered in Orchard Park. She took on her new role at AAA WCNY on November 4.
She has a Master’s Degree in Communications and Leadership from Canisius College and is a graduate of Mount Mercy Academy. Susan resides in West Seneca where her top role is being a caring mother and cheerleader to her three children.
