Susan Schubbe has joined AAA Western and Central New York as Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development. In her role, from AAA’s Amherst headquarters, Susan will oversee human resource strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent, as well as expand AAA’s Leadership Development strategies.

Susan comes to AAA with more than 25 years of senior human resources and people management experience. Formally the Chief Human Resources Officer at Curbell, her expertise includes leadership and organizational alignment, strategic planning, team building, and driving high-performance cultures.

In addition to her hands-on experiences, Susan studied Business Management & Economics at Empire State College. She has earned several certifications, including the Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR), and was the recipient of Buffalo Business First’s C-Level Executive Award in 2018.

What attracted Susan to transition to AAA Western and Central New York was word of mouth. “An employee shared how positive the culture is, and I see the presence in the community and commitment to the Western and Central New York community,” she said. “AAA puts action into their words. I really look forward to connecting with the associates and getting to know the people here.”

Susan is a Buffalo native who has been married to her husband Dave for 30 years. She loves to read in her free time. Susan’s daughter Monica is a graduate of Daemen College, and her son David studies at St. Bonaventure.
