President's Choice Trip Offers European Cruise

International travel is on the rebound! AAA’s international travel bookings were up 104 percent this year compared to 2021. One of the most popular trends for travelers from Western and Central New York is European river cruising, which allows travelers to explore many destinations in one trip while only unpacking once.

Imagine setting sail along the Rhône River in France’s Provence region as you head out to explore impeccable beauty, history, and cuisine in one of the world’s most remarkable destinations. That’s exactly what travelers from Western and Central New York are doing on AAA’s President’s Choice Trip.

The group set sail today for a weeklong journey. AAA Director of Public Relations Elizabeth Carey is accompanying the travelers and will be sharing photos, videos, and blogs to document the once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Traveling by river cruise on AmaWaterways’ Colors of Provence itinerary offers guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in European culture as the AmaKristina docks right in the heart of each port. Travelers can then choose from a variety of tours, cycling, hiking, and more. As AmaWaterways puts it, “From romantic cities to foodie havens and artistic epicenters, this itinerary enlivens all your senses.”

From searching for highly prized “Black Diamond” truffles and learning how olives become olive oil, to tracing the steps of famous artists or visiting a papal palace, there’s truly something for everyone on this itinerary where each day will bring something new.

Traveling in a group with AAA offers a unique experience where travelers can truly relax while building new friendships with other Western and Central New Yorkers as they explore the world together. More than 30 travelers are on this particular trip, which was personally chosen by AAA Western and Central New York President and CEO Tony Spada.

The river cruise embarked from Avignon, France, the “City of Popes,” and will travel north on the Rhone, where guests will see beautiful landscapes that inspired countless artists. The cruise disembarks in Lyon, France. Travelers also enjoyed a two-day pre-cruise visit to bustling Barcelona, Spain.
