AAA Western and Central New York has hired a new manager in its accounting department. Amy Guard is joining the team as Manager, Accounting & Projects.

Amy will be responsible for the accounting aspects related to all projects at AAA. She will hit the ground running as a key player as AAA implements a new accounting system. She’ll be responsible for the development of new processes and procedures in the accounting department, including the process for the new software. Amy will also assist with the accounting needs for AAA across the Western and Central New York region.

“I’m very excited about this new role. I look forward to assisting on the various projects that are ongoing and upcoming as they provide new challenges and opportunities to improve operations and financial reporting,” she said. “Along with the project side of accounting, I’m excited to apply my skills to the corporate accounting function for AAA as well.”

Amy began work out of AAA’s headquarters in Amherst on April 17.

“Amy’s experience is as a broad as it gets in the accounting world — that includes project implementation, external audit, internal audit, corporate accounting, operational accounting, and compliance,” said AAA Director of Finance Scott Kukelka. “I’m excited to bring her aboard knowing she will also be a great fit with AAA’s culture.”

Amy’s background also includes public accounting and corporate accounting experience from both large and small businesses. Notably, she worked at Deloitte in New York City and spent several years with Delaware North in Buffalo. Most recently, she managed the accounting and finance functions for a commercial real estate company.

A graduate of the University at Buffalo, Amy holds a degree in accounting and internal audit.

Amy grew up in Elma and now calls that area home with her husband and three children. When she’s not crunching numbers in the accounting office, you’ll find Amy gardening, hiking, kayaking, or camping as she enjoys the great outdoors.
