New York State has converted to cashless tolling only as of Jan. 1, 2021, bringing along a 30 percent fee toll increase. However, E-ZPass users have not be impacted by the rate increase.
Passing a cashless tollbooth on the 570-mile New York State Thruway system also costs an additional $2 administration fee to pay by mail. E-ZPass customers pay automatically, avoiding any mail or additional fees. Accepted in more than 16 states, E-ZPass provides seamless interstate travel. Each E-ZPass customer can receive up to four tags for their vehicles.
E-ZPass On-the-Go tags are available at your local AAA Travel Store for $25. Most AAA locations offer a discount on E-ZPass tags for AAA members. When you register your tag online or over the phone, the $25 becomes your prepaid toll balance.
