The future of driving is changing rapidly, and AAA is helping the next generation of drivers charge ahead by adding the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV to our driver training fleet in Amherst.

The Bolt is a fully electric vehicle with a range of up to 259 miles on a single charge. The Bolt offers students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with an EV, making it a great option for new and experienced drivers alike.

Before you get behind the wheel, get to know the Bolt inside and out.

CHARGING

The Bolt comes with a dual level charging cord that can plug into both 120V (Level 1) and 240V (Level 2) outlets, eliminating the need for a separate home charger. Level 2 charging can fully refill the battery in about 10 hours, while Level 1 charges at a rate of around four miles of range per hour. A full charge will result in an EPA estimated driving range of 259 miles.

DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER

The Bolt’s 8-inch LCD instrument cluster features a large digital speedometer and gauges for ecocoaching and brake-regeneration. A confidence gauge estimates range scenarios, and a power gauge displays energy distribution.

POWER BUTTON

Equipped with keyless electronic push button to start and stop the engine.

POWER/SHIFTER

The Bolt’s all-electric powertrain can take you from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds. One Pedal Driving mode captures energy by using regenerative braking to slow the vehicle, while Sport Mode provides more responsive acceleration.

INFOTAINMENT CENTER

The infotainment interface features a 10.2- inch touch screen, Bluetooth, and OnStar telematics. Enjoy your handsfree media apps, navigate to your destination with GPS, or take advantage of the HD backup camera for perfect parking. Plus, view your efficiency history, range change information, and monitor energy flow.

AAA’s Driver Training instructors are experts at preparing you for the challenges of the road, whether you drive an EV or traditional vehicle. AAA Driver Training EV lessons are designed for new EV owners or anyone in the EV market. The 45-minute sessions allow students to experience driving an EV under many situations – including expressways, lane changes, backing, and intersections. Students learn how an EV handles, sounds, and reacts while driving in everyday traffic situations.
